Ingredients

  • Baguette or bread1 pc
  • Tomatoes4 pcs
  • Garlic2 cloves
  • Fresh basil15 g
  • Olive oil4 tbsp
  • Balsamic vinegar1 tbsp
  • Salt1 pinch
  • Pepper1 pinch

Instructions

  1. 1

Wash and dry tomatoes. Remove seeds and stems. Finely chop the tomato flesh.

Tip: Removing seeds and juice prevents the bruschetta from being too soggy.

  2. 2

Add 1 minced garlic clove to tomatoes. Chop basil and add. Season with salt, pepper, 2 tbsp oil and vinegar. Mix and let sit 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Slice bread into 1-1.5 cm thick pieces.

  4. 4

Heat grill or pan over medium heat. Toast bread 2 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.

  5. 5

While still hot, rub the bread with the remaining garlic clove cut in half, and lightly brush with olive oil.

  6. 6

Top each bread slice with a generous spoonful of tomato mixture. Serve immediately.

Tip: Bruschetta is best when bread is warm and tomatoes are fresh at room temperature.

Cooking methods

On the stove

Use a grill pan or heavy skillet on high heat. No oil needed - dry-toast for 2 minutes per side. Press gently with a spatula for better contact and even crust development.

On induction

Heat a cast iron grill pan to level 7–8 and preheat 3 minutes. Induction heats the ridges intensely for excellent char marks. A flat heavy pan also works - creating an even golden crust without grill marks.

Over an open fire

The best method for bruschetta. Place bread directly on the grill grate over medium coals. Watch carefully - bread chars in seconds. Pull at golden-brown and rub the raw garlic half immediately while hot. The smoky char elevates bruschetta to another level.
